About Me

Hello there! I am Alec, a PhD Candidate at UvA's HIMS lab, researching Generative AI for Inverse Design of Molecules & Materials under supervision of Dr. ir. Bernd Ensing and Dr. Patrick Forré. Before setting out on this adventure, I studied Information Science at Utrecht University and Data Science & AI at Eindhoven University of Technology. Earlier this year, I completed my MSc thesis, with the AI4Science group at TU/e, in Equivariant Generative AI for Emulating Fluid Dynamics, marking the culmination of my pre-doctoral studies. This project really sparked my interest in leveraging Generative AI models for the natural sciences. That brings me to my current research: generating realistic molecules/materials with desirable properties. Within this field, I am particularly interested in using equivariances in Flow-based or Diffusion-based generative models.
